The Kuru School anthem was composed by Late Robert Harvey Lewis M.O.N (1917-2006). He was a British man who had his early education in north London where he nurtured the art of music. He was a War Reserve policeman during World War 1, a Flight Lieutenant then became a mathematics teacher in London in 1936 and later lived in Nigeria for over 4o years until his demise. He was a schoolmaster and choirmaster of more than three (3) generations.

He grew great school choirs in Gov’t College-Keffi, G.S.S Ilorin, G.S.S Kuru, and external collaborations with other schools like St. Louis College-Jos, Hill Crest School-Jos, Boy’s High School-Gindri, Girl’s High School-Gindri, all in the middle belt of Nigeria. He was a remarkable man whose personality and background are reflections of the colonial times.

The Kuru Song was skillfully produced in its original composition, format, and harmonious flavor as rightfully composed by late Papa Lewis. Two versions (a Capella and a full orchestral version) have been provided for your listening pleasure.

Download both for a token of 500 naira (or more, as you wish to give) as proceeds will be used for further development of positive media contents for KOSA and G.S.S Kuru. Kuru School Anthem (Lyrics)
 Chorus: 1x
We are the boys of Kuru and we are going to sing our song,
We are the boys of Kuru, we work and we play as hard as we may,
For we are the boys of Kuru, so listen to what we say.

 Verse 1:
We rise in the morn at break of day,
First, we go to the assembly,
And then to our labs we make our way,
For we are a science school now…
 Chorus: 1x
For we are the boys of Kuru,
We work and we play as hard as we may,
For we are the boys of Kuru, so listen to what we say.

 Verse 2:
On the field we are so very tough,
Football teams may pant and puff,
But they must be good to be good enough
To play with the boys of Kuru.

Chorus: 1x
For we are the boys of Kuru
We work and we play as hard as we may,
For we are the boys of Kuru, so listen to what we say.

 Verse 3:
And when as evening shadows fall,
Out we come from the dining hall,
And into our preps room go we all
For that’s why we came to Kuru
 Chorus: 1x
For we are the boys of Kuru
We work and we play as hard as we may,
For we are the boys of Kuru, so listen to what we say.

 Bridge:
And when we have gone from Kuru,
For time will not stay we are here but a day,
Tis then we’ll be glad that Kuru,
Has helped us upon our way,
For when in distant, places far,
 Troubles press temptations lure,
We always have this guiding star,
 For then we’ll remember Kuru,
For we are the sons of Kuru,
We strive and we stay as well as we may,
For we are the sons of Kuru,
So, help us oh God we pray!

 The song ends!
